Meet the CELP Cohort 5 Participants
CELP Cohort 5 officially kicked off Module 1 at Deloitte’s Tysons Office with two in-person training sessions on December 8th and 9th led by Joy Ignacio (Cohort 3 alumni) and Margaret Erickson (Cohort 4 alumni). Cohort members across multiple firms and companies in the GWA area received mentorship and interactive guidance from facilitators (Amy Shang and Wes Hom), mentors, and executives on how to break into the executive level. Participants also enjoyed networking and building connections among current CELP members, facilitators, mentors, and former cohort members both within the sessions and at a networking happy hour at La Sandia (Tysons Corner Mall).
Module 2 was held at Accenture's Metro DC office on January 27th. Cohort members reconvened to continue self-development and preparation for entering the executive ranks. The interactive session included direct instruction, self-evaluation, and panel discussions with various AAPI leaders across various firms in the GWA area. Following the session, Cohort 5 participants and past CELP alumni gathered at Carpool for a networking and relationship building event. The last Module was held at Deloitte’s Tyson’s office where Cohort 5 participants collaborated with their peers to leveraged lessons from Modules 1 and 2 to develop their individual promotion business case. The participants then use story telling approach to present their business cases before their peers, facilitators, mentors and executives. For the grand finale, the program held a graduation ceremony at Maggiano’s to celebrate the successful completion of CELP Cohort 5 and presented the participants with graduation certificates. Photos from CELP sessions can be found here. | |||
Congratulations 2023 Northern Virginia 40 Under 40!  Mahwish Hamlani, CELP Cohort 2 alumni, was awarded an honoree for the 2023 Northern Virginia 40 under 40. The Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 recognizes emerging leaders who demonstrate exceptional and impactful leadership in their professional and personal spheres within the Northern Virginia region. Fall 2022 Recap
On November 5, 2022 GWA Ascend Chapter hosted its annual Inspiring Across Generations (IAG) Conference. The event was a success, with 100+ professionals and students from the GWA gathering for a day of collaboration, professional development, mentoring, and relationship building. For this conference, GWA Ascend Chapter partnered with the various companies to host the event at the KPMG Downtown DC office. As 2022 spearheads the focus on workplace diversity and inclusivity, the IAG conference explored the connection between belonging and purpose; finding both for oneself as well as helping others find their place. The event included many notable individuals including Kevin Tien, Zach Heng, Ameer Ali, Jessica Choi, and Liz Benson who shared valuable elements of being your authentic self, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace. On November 3, 2022 Ascend GWA CEI re-launched its Power Networking event at Punchbowl Social in Arlington to reconnect the CEI/CELP community and welcome back CELP alumni and friends. With over 30 attendees, the event fostered relationships between individuals from all four Ascend CELP cohorts, mentors, CEI executives and GWA Ascend Chapter leadership. Thank you to everyone who attended the 2022 Ascend Convention in Disneyland last summer, where we explored the overarching theme of belonging.
