The Passing of the Honorable Samuel Tinsing Mok

The Passing of the Honorable Samuel Tinsing Mok

We mourn the passing of
the Honorable Samuel Tinsing Mok
December 30, 1944 - September 21, 2022

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Sam Mok passed away suddenly last week. Our condolences go out to his family.

Sam was one of Ascend National’s first Advisory Board members and served many years in that capacity. He played a key role in our Greater Washington Area (GWA) Ascend Corporate Executive Initiative that launched the Corporate Executive Leadership Program (CELP).

Sam was an inspirational leader and a role model. He was a driving force behind many initiatives and events that brought together our Asian community in GWA. He was often the face of Asian American leadership and represented us tremendously well.

Sam's incredible career included serving as the Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Labor and CFO and Comptroller of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He also served our country as a commissioned officer in the US Army and as a Foreign Service Officer of the United States Department of State. In the private sector, he was the Founder and Managing Member of Condor International Advisors, LLC, and the CEO of GL Associates. His many awards and accolades include the 2007 Ellis Island Medal of Honor and 2020 Federal Asian Pacific American Council Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sam was a great mentor to many people and was truly a National treasure. He will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held in Washington D.C. at Joseph Gawler’s Sons at 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington D.C.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday (Sept. 29) and the Memorial Service at 10:30 am on Friday (Sept. 30). Please join his family with his many friends and colleagues over the years as they share his remarkable time on earth with photos and stories, and remember all the wonderful, positive ways he touched our lives. Members of the community are also invited to share fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the Mok family at this web site: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/washington-dc/samuel-mok-10942765

This loss is heart-breaking for all of us. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

With deepest sympathy,

Ascend Greater Washington Area CEI/CELP Team
